Have now some numbers over S2 and RS2 calipers and rotors to share, with some conclusions over brakes performances that might be usefull also as a comparison with aftermarket options.
First of all a comparison picture between OEM Girling S2 braking system vs. Brembo RS2 braking system (front and rear):
since I have more than once seen around the net calipers being sold as "RS2 ones" while not being at all or being REAR ones, NOT FRONT ones, I would like to point out real dimensions of calipers are:
FRONT: 278 mm (max width);
REAR: 240 mm (max width);
The rear ones can easily be distinguished because have vertical mountings directly on the aluminum rear shell, while the FRONT ones have RADIAL mountings that need a bracket to bolt on to the axle arm.
So, how better RS2 Brembos are in comparison with Girling ones?
Given all other parameters being equal (such as pressure on pedal, performance of pads, brake lines, brake fluid quality etc.) and assuming external forces between one side pots and opposed pots are negligible as much as rigidity of caliper assembly issues, then, with good approximation you have:
FRONT: RS2 Brembos 65,7% more stopping power;
REAR: RS2 Brembos 128% more stopping power.
Need to make a comparison with other aftermarket options?
Just figure out total pot surface and average distance from center of pot to center of disk.
Dont care about units (don't need to have a real Force or Momentum value, just a comparison number), just compare S x r of the different options.
