  • 1991 7A Coupe Exhaust Options

I have 1991 Coupe with 7A engine. My factory exhaust needs replacement and parts are unavailable. I want it quiet. What are my options?

Fabricated is probably the best way forward. Stick to standard pipe sizes and replicate the number and size of the silencers and you won't go far wrong. The added bonus is that if made from stainless steel, you won't have to do it again.

I had a cat back system made last year, it wasn't the cheapest option but it is superb quality and made from a thicker gauge of stainless than some and I think this helps with the absorbency and reduces any harsh resonations. I asked for the silencers to be 'reproduced' and as the company produce their own silencers rather than weld pipes between Chinese imports; they did.

      I couldn't be happier.

It is perfect, not at all excessive, doesn't drone at cruising speed and to be honest, I can't remember the standard system being any quieter.

There are Imasaf versions on German eBay, but they look nothing like the original, and probably fall in the same bin as the above.

Anyone know a good exhaust place down Somerset way?

I've got a BN Pipes system on my 90q 20v. It's louder than standard but not too intrusive
