  • 1991 Audi 7A Cutting Out During Acceleration

    Hi there,

I have a 1991 7A CQ with 320,000 miles. Last few months, the engine has been cutting out during acceleration and even when the car is throttled in neutral.

It never stalls but you can sense the power delivery is interrupted for microseconds repeatedly.

I changed the coil without improvement. There are no codes.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thank you in advance.

Are you thinking it's an interruption on the low tension side of the ignition ?......... A failing king lead would have a similar effect. That would be an easy fix ! Have you checked the condition of the king lead at the cap?

Weather on the original Hitachi injectors or aftermarket it'd be worth checking the connections under the scuttle ?

    Ignition switch issue ?

Worth going through all the connectors and checking the condition.

Great engines the 7A's, 320k is proof

Chris: check the condition of the connector to the temp sensor on the rear of the head near the battery. I've had two CQs with broken connectors giving intermittent contact and like performance issues that you are experiencing.
