God these old cars are good

I have just been for a,shall we say a very spirited drive in my newley rebuilt S2, and boy what fantastic cars they are,its the first time I have ever driven this car when it appears to be running right, having now run it in after all the work.I have owned it for about 3 years and its had loads of problems, and until now has never run right,if it was'nt for the fact that I also own a urs6, I would of just thought, well these cars don't live up to there reputation, but to all you people that struggle to get your car running right,I say this, when you get it right theres nothing better, short of an rs2 of course. Me I am of for another drive, and thanks to all on here who have helped along the way,you where right to say don't lose the faith

I've just come back from two weeks hols in the USA, driving a silly 3.6 litre V6 car around... nothing sporty, but very smooth and grunty.... and of course an auto...

I did 1500 miles and so got very used to the heap of crap ... mainly cos being a biggish engine with auto, you can put your toe down without even thinking of changing gear and all that ....

SOOOOO... to the point.... I came home, got into my S2 to pop over to see a friend... and WOWWWWWW... so light, responsive, torquey (is that a word?), road hugging, always feeling like it wants to give more, yum yum... i LOVE the car more than ever !!!
              SOLD !

I love that feeling when you've been away on a trip with a ***** rental car (even in the USA when they give you a monster V8 thing - they generally handle like a boat).

That drive home from the airport in the S2 is a great homecoming present to yourself - its like '"yes - this is a proper car - and its MINE - shall I overtake again - muhahahahahaha"

You hit the nail on the head with regards to 'when they are running correctly'...and the shame is some never experience that. It has taken me 3 years to get the RS2 on the money. Boy was it worth it
