    Restoring 3B headlights

    I had an M.O.T.failure because the driverside headlight reflector had lost most of the chrome,and did'nt work properly, I have a brand new shiny one on the passenger side, and I desided to re place the driverside with a new one the price nearley £170.
    Then I found out you can buy a new reflector for £36 and a new glass for £38 plus vat. I fitted it today without any problems, and the result is fantastic, and when you consider the cost of a second hand head light,is £70 to £80,not a bad opption.

    Yes. That's one good thing about the 3B reflector headlights.

        They've got glass lenses. So you can put high wattage bulbs in them and use them as heaters.

          My 3B has also failed the "EU kontroll" (Norwegian M.O.T.) partly because of this so I have ordered new reflectors, the glass is ok. Nice tip, saves me some money (which I already spent on refurbing my wheels ).

                given the state of most people projector reflectors, might be worth investigating a group rechrome with someone. I originally found a name but cant find the link

                I have to say that when i took my 3b's off (one was original) it was in fantastic shape still....though wouldnt change back now i had got used to the projectors

                  Thanks again Jas

                  Like yours David, one of mine if perfect, but the other has lost a lot of its chrome
                  i noticed one doesn't have the tab underneath of the light trim to sit in
                  Non-original i'm guessing......

                    Scrub that part number above, I read the title quoting "3B" headlights and now have remembered you have a cq20v which has different headlamps (longer).

                    So, reflector you want is;

                    UK passenger side "pre facelift" reflector = 896 941 151 or 896 941 151 A.
                    The significance of the "A" on the end I'm not sure of, it quotes both, the one with the "A" being model "J".
                    A call to vagparts is in order to sort that one out.
