This was discussed a while back but i can’t find the original thread. AFAIK only AC cars had pollen filters but they will fit any model.
Parts needed: Cost about £20

8A0819439 Pollen Filter
8A0819165 Gasket (you can re-use the original)
Install:
The unit is hidden under the plastic cover at the back of the engine bay. You have to pull off the rubber seal along the back edge of the engine bay, and then rotate the three screw clips under the windscreen anticlockwise. The cover should lift up giving access to the top of the heater.
The old unit, mine was covered in a pile of leaves about an inch thick!
