Guide to fit Pollen filter mod

This was discussed a while back but i can’t find the original thread. AFAIK only AC cars had pollen filters but they will fit any model.

Parts needed: Cost about £20

8A0819441A Plastic Ducting
8A0819439 Pollen Filter
8A0819165 Gasket (you can re-use the original)

Install:

The unit is hidden under the plastic cover at the back of the engine bay. You have to pull off the rubber seal along the back edge of the engine bay, and then rotate the three screw clips under the windscreen anticlockwise. The cover should lift up giving access to the top of the heater.

The old unit, mine was covered in a pile of leaves about an inch thick!

Looks good might have to give that a go as well, is the filter open so to speak or can you get something like a fine mesh to go over the top?

Yup.
It's chassis number, not aircon dependant.
Coupes from chassis number wauzzz8BzPA008001 onwards, Avants/Sedans from chassis number wauzzz8CzPA300000 onwards and all RS2's had pollen filters regardless whether they had aircon or not.

Now anyone can have one thanks to Marks mod. No more leaves blowing through your vents..

TO stop water seeping past windshield trim and wetting pollen filter ????

The plastic trim along the bottom of the windscreen keeps water away from the filter. If water did leak past it would fall straight onto the fan if you didnt have the filter so its not an issue.

Another positive i noticed is its sound proofing ability, less engine noise and the fan sounds less turbulant on full speed.
