Have you bought the resistors?Originally posted by ChasmanNow does anyone have a similar trick for the tail light check - I just fitted LED Stop & Tail lights and it works OK when I turn on the ignition and press the brake pedla - I get OK. But as soon as I turn on the lights I get a blown bulb indicator...Comment

Do you have any part numbers for the original and replacement relays?
I have ballast resistors but no clue how to neatly fit them... do I splice into the loom or modify the housings where they attach?
I assume I just short the appropriate two pins to simulate the load of the filament?Cheers,

Is anyone aware if this will stop the autocheck due to LED side lights?
A review for this resistor suggests a guy with an A4 quattro didn't have any luck with stopping his auto check system.Last edited by Sonic; 27 October 2007, 11:32.S2Forum.com AdministratorComment

Your sidelights aren't monitored by the autocheck, neither are the highbeams. Just dipped headlights, tail lights and brake lights.
If you have the autocheck warning coming on, it's due to the HID's you now have on the dipped beam.
Either live with it (not brilliant) or snap/remove/bend the K-pin on the headlights autocheck relay above the drivers parcel shelf.
(Two years for my HID dipped beam now, and still no autocheck warning from them

Cheers Jas11n - will give it a go.
When i installed my HIDs a couple of days ago i had no problems or autocheck warnings at all. I installed my LED side lights the other day (a couple of days after the HIDs) and i cant go for 30 seconds without getting an autocheck warning, so i assumed this was due to the sidelights.

That does sound strange that the Autocheck didn't get tripped until the sidelight bulbs were swapped. Glad you sorted it though Andy. No more annoying bulb warnings anyway.SSComment

As I am going to be fitting HID's soon I was just reading up on this k pin mod and the thought occurred to me that couldn't you just run a thin wire from the right to left highlight live thus balancing the load that is being monitored ? From what I have read this is how the system works by the difference in load from pairs of bulbs left to right to determine if a bulb has gone ? Am I right in thinking this would work and still leave the rear auto check OK or am I missing something ?Comment
