Most people on here will already know how to do this but for the more technically challenged, or those needing a bit more info before trying, here's a pictorial guide to changing pads on the Lucas/Girling calipers courtesy of Brembo....
Good find David, for some this would be a hard task and not something they would normally do. With that simple guide, they can now see how easy it is to do and hence save themselves some dosh!! (To spend on tuning)!!

Yeah it's slightly different at point 5, you'd need o remove the pad carrier first in order to remove the disc but its only two bolts. The description is generic to lucas/girling systems but its close enough to be of help i think.
What an excellent little guide.
Is there one somewhere out there that shows an easy way to change the pads on Porsche big reds? Particularly loosening the wire cross type spring bit thingy on the calipers that holds the pads in.
I hope that was clear. You can see them on this pic....
Hi, not having these I'm not sure i am the best to say here but as far as i know the x shaped pad retainer is hinged at one end, i guess you compress it to allow it to move pass the retainer on the block. Pads should then slide out and in easily...
Only a teeny weeny bit jealous of those mighty big reds!!!!
I've only got the normal RS2 callipers at the moment (Just got to kill these **** pagid pads and then I'll order the 'big reds') but IIRC you squeeze the spring with a pair of pliers or the like and it pops the end out of the calliper.
In fact exactly what David said
Ben
the best intentions are fraught with disappointment - gil grissom
Excellent - Thanks for that.
I knew I had to unclip the cross shape spring, but I had tried previously and failed. But it looks as though all I have to do is squeeze the middle together and it should come out OK.
