wrist pin removal/big end bearing fitting help please..

    need some advice,
Im removing the wrist pins from a set of pistons and rods, there out of the engine, whats the best way to do take the pins out without damaging anything? Secondly, fitting big ends bearings, whats the best way, order, do i oil them up between the shell and rod or keep dry? Do i oil up between the shell and crank? Torque settings, how do i avoid spinning the bearings?
General tips and hints wanted please...
    Thanks

Wrist pin clips have two holes for removal, you use one of those special pliers (dont know the name for them) or any pair with a long fine nose on them.

As for assembly i would recomend assembly lube as engine oil will only drain away after a few days.

I would put a lite smear of oil between the shell and rod/block to stop them rusting while sitting, but little enough that it wont get compressed out when torqueing up the caps.

They wont spin in there caps as they have locking tabs to stop that, if they did they would block up the oil feed from the block.

Dont know the torque settings off hand, i'm sure somebody here will have a note of them to hand.

are you mad ? using oil between block and shell bearings will cause it to spin the bearing .it has to be totally clean .

Thin film of oil won't make any difference, there held in place by the keyways not friction. Besides they have oilways drilled through them with 5bar oil pressure, there is always going to be A film of oil there.

and the bearing crush will also help keep them in place, but i've never read anything about oiling the tunnels

You'll need circlip pliers as said above to remove the wrist pins. If they dont push out with a moderate tapping, then heat the piston up a little, not too much, just enough for it to expand and loosen the grip, try not to heat the pin up.

You should really use new bolts for the mains, and new nuts on the big ends.

I dont have my book here with me at the mo, its in my car at work so I cant put up the torques, someone will have them, try motorgeek.

but what about actually removing the pin, should i clamp the piston in soft jaws and tap it out with a mallet and drift, or a press?

Im not touching the mains, just the big ends, seems that one of the small ends has been chewed up, so im using the rods and pins from the other engine ive got, and using the pistons from my engine, and replacing the shells because i have just bought new rs2 ones from the stealers..

remove one clip and push the pin out. use a socket thats the same size if need be and give them a tap.

                        should come out easily.
