    time to tinker

been driving my s2 for about 2 mnths now an time to start tinkering , i got a rattle from my exhaust when the revs are low between 1000 an 1500 would this be a loose heat shield its ok otherwise.
ive noticed a small water leak from the nut on top of the main radiator could i get away with putting a copper washer on it to stop the leak, as i need to drain the system to get all the brown water out is it just a case of unscrewing the bottom hose.
    last little tinker
ive only driven the car a couple of times in the dark i notice i got no light behind the volt meter, but should there be bulbs behind the heater controls as i dont have any
    cheers for any help

dash bulbs have probably just blow, easy fixes

You can try a copper washer on the rad - i have one on mine to stop it weeping and its fine now.
Lower rad hose is best to drain coolant - do it when hot so the stat is open and you can drain the block too - I normally pour a few kettles worth of boiling water down the top rad hose and hoses matrix for good measure too. If its really filthy worth a flush before putting nice new collant in

Thats the best way to do it ^, but don't undo that bottom hose while its still under pressure, so gently undo the reservoir cap first.

Also, depending on what type of rad you have be careful when tightening the nut. The ones with copper end tanks can easily split if that nut is over tightened.

      Good luck
