Dean, once you unclip the cover, it's only really held in place at the bottom ofthe cover. The bottom edge of the cover has a groove in it. Thios groove goes over the bottom pulley metal cover which you can just see in this picture.

You just need to fiddle the cover to get it out. It is a pain, even more so to get it back on ok and not rub on the PS belt!!

Your aux rad looks a lot better than mine!!

      Good luck

          yup,

I changed the bottom hose to a NG / KV engine one that doesn't have the take off to the bottom of teh aux rad. The top hose, A very nice man in Scotland gave me a bung and a short piece of hose to cap the main rad off with :-)

Just been out for another quick fiddle,it just will not come out over the panel above the headlight. You can get it so far and it also catches on the bottom corner, on the PS belt/pulley

              Dean,
It's been a little while since I last did this, but it sounds like you have got to remove the power steering pump. That's no big deal mate!! 30 seconds and it is off!

Undo and remove the PS pump bolts and slacken the long adjusting bolt and thepump will 'fall away' giving you the room to remove the cambelt cover.

Dean - it looks as if you have a had a water leak down there - everything is brown.

If you are removing the power steering pump it might be worth replacing the 2 short sections of water hose under it and doing the cambelt and doing the water pump, and doing the thermostat and, and, and........

Dean, you might want to hold the fort a little there.... I just found a better picture of the set up. It doesn't look like you can change the hall sender with the cam pulley still fitted!!!!

If anyone can confirm this please????

You have to remove the cam pulley - don't even try and take the sensor out without doing that - you'll end up damaging the ring. Remember to lock the cam before undoing the pulley bolt.

I haven't looked in the Haynes manual. How did you lock your cam please Doug? I am doing my cam belt now as I'm taking the rocker cover off to clean and paint it.

David, hold one of the cam lobes with a big adjustable spanner whilst undoing the pulley bolt. dont try and hold the pulley itself or you will shear the key off.

Thanks Martin. I re-read the post, i'd thought that you were meant to lock the cam before replacing the cam belt. I didn't when I did it 11 years ago!.

It is if you are taking the pulley off that you lock the cam.

I suppose it's better to use the big spanner rather than a pair of mole grips on the lobe!
