Coupe boot lock

This might be of interest for early coupe owners, the boot latch/lock assembly has had a few revisions over the years.

Pic one show my original 91 CQ20v lock on the top, and a 94 V6 Coupe lock on the bottom. I always assumed a plastic cover was broken off mine but when i fitted the new one i found it didnt fit into the latch. On closer inspection the 94 V6 latch has a larger opening. (Pic 2 shows the 94 lock on top)

Long story short, i fitted both parts from the 94 car and its silent, not a squeak rattle or creak from it since

Anybody with a 90/91 car can you have a look at yours and see if its the same, or should my original have had a plastic cover too?

interestingly i was investigating my rattling tailgate today, mine (late 89 manufacture) doesn't have any plastic on the catch - makes it squeak intermittently. Might try a late spec latch and see if it has any effect

My main rattle is caused by play in the drivers side top hinge unfortunately, need to look into this..

Sounds right... always heard about these orrible creaks on the Coupe tailgates but mine has never given any such badness. Mine is MY94 so that would make sense. See - ABYs are just that much better - LOL.
