hi guys, after a few days of non use the battery on my s2 3b runs out of charge, the battery seems ok and is charging when i am driving it,could there be something causing the battery to drain ,i have just bought the car and the battery looks new,any help will be appreciated before i go and buy a new battery.
best regards john
It is very possible that there could be something draining the battery when the car is turned off, car alarms can use a small amount as well as radios to keep the memory. To find this out you need a amp meter and connect between the positive battery terminal and the positive battery cable. When my car was off the road for a bit the drain from the radio and alarm would make the battery go flat after a couple weeks or so. Any shorter than that there's something up. A wet dirty battery top can even cause a drain. I've seen 11volt going across the top of a battery and the probes of my metre weren't even touching the battery terminals
never set your expectations to high that way you are never disapointed
In the dark, check " usual suspects" like the boot light switch ( fold the rear seats first ) and the bonnet light switch. Have you had the battery properly checked ?
I know you say it is charging but check that the brushes on the regulator in the alternator have enough meat left on them, before trying anything else.
