Loud bang followed by no gears

    Hi Gents,

Could one of you please point me in the right direction...
I pulled up to my driveway yesterday evening, opened the gates and drove forward from standstill in first. On pull off, there was a loud bang and now I have no gears.

Would this be the linkage by any chance?
What cash flow damage am I looking at and how difficult is this to sort?

    Thanks
    Sean

You can see the mechanism on the box, it's below the ABS unit. See if you can select gears manually there and get someone to try and select gears while you watch. Loads of other things to try to diagnose clutch, box or linkage. If it is the box then best get saving... clutch is cheaper but depends what you find when it's all apart...

Not sure this is any help but I had a big bang and no drive, lucky for me was just a rear drive shaft that had gone managed to get some replacements no trouble since. A lot cheaper than a gear box

            Thanks guys,

Seems that the clutch has gone. The motor starts and I can change gears no problems. The motor does not cut out, when I have it in gear and I remove my foot off the clutch...Just no movement.

Can anyone tell me what labour costs to expect?

that would also happen with snapped shaft, id imagine it would make a bit of racket though
