    Boost Gauge - Best Position.

    Evening All.

Will soon be the owner of one of Mr Casey's finest VDO Boost Gauges .
Trouble is, I can't decide where to put it… I don't like the vent location and don't want it to look like an 'Add-on' by using some cheap pod from fleabay. So.. where is the best spot for the 'fitted in the factory' look? Pics and suggestions welcomed!

    Cheers

    Russ

swap it for one of the other center gauges, i.e. battery as the car either starts or does not

Nothing wrong with the vent position, with the holder finished in black and the Audi rings. Seen worse with folk just forcing it into the vent

Just not a big fan of the vent holder especially with the rings. Maybe a blank black one would look ok? I've actually got about four vents spare that I was going to adapt and do some test fits with but decided it will just look wrong whichever way I do it.

if all three vents were gauges facing sligtly to the driver it would be better imo

Don't want to remove or adapt any original parts... Would be the perfect location though.

Looks promising, have you got a pic of it fitted?

For me it has to be the vent... I agree it's not good adapting the car to make it fit but considering how often you need to check how often the fecking car is boosting properly and the speed you are travelling at the time it has to be within easy sight to work properly...

It's also easier to wire in at the vent as you have the other gauges to take all the feeds off and the ECU isn't a million miles away and causing yet another boost leak...

                            Just my 1p's worth...

Ask Bambridge how he's getting on with my gauge holder.... 2 years and still waiting...

I fitted one instead of the oil temp gauge on my B3 and it looks stock, but on the TDI I don't have gauges, so I'm going to shoehorn it either into the drivers air vent or do like I did with old supra and wire it into a gauge holder in the glovebox, I mean, generally I won't be looking at the gauge all day, so when the car doesn't feel right, pop the glovebox down and voila!
