Please give a good guide on how to built an oil catch tank on the RS2! Please give us full details on how to build the tank and exactly instructions, maybe photos too on how the lines should go on it!
You also have a line from the cam cover into the tank.
Steel wool breaks up, and is vrey fine, so will go into your sump.
Me and Mark are using stainless scouring pads. I put a small mesh on the bottom of my tank to stop anything going back to the sump - an inline filter might be a good idea.
I plan to get a vacuum line in there instead of the filter - one day.
Baffles are there to re-condense the oil vapours. More baffles at 90 degrees to vapour flow will do the trick. I agree with Paul in that you need more horizontal baffles staggered to increase the path of the vapours. Ditch the steel wool.

This is a crude representation of how my tank looks inside:
The wavy line shows the path of the oil vapour. I's based on a RS500 Cosworth tank.
This is the tank itself:
It's a 3" diameter cylinder with two inlets one side and an outlet the other. The inlets aren't in the ideal place though so I need to do some clever pipework to make it all fit. That is when I get round to plumbing it in properly.

The baffles are just metal plates, no holes. So vapour has to go around them. I guessed horizontal ones would be a good idea.
Have you got a kitchen scourer in yours Ben?
I'm scourer free. Don't even have one in the kitchen.
The baffles do a better job than the scourer but the principle is the same. Basically the surfaces are there to condense the oil so that it runs back to the bottom of the tank. Works quite well as for a while I had a jar on the bottom of my tank and it collected quite a bit of oil. I think that a couple more baffles could be fitted to make it work even beter though as you can still smell oil in the outlet air.
This was when the fumoto drain valve snapped in half. Not good but made for some interesting power slides as the contents of the sump spread out under the back tyres.
