UrS6 - How to raise mpg cheaply ?

My Urs6 is on its original injectors, and they have not been cleaned in it's 60k miles.

After looking at Jason Plato on Fifth Gear use Redex fuel injection cleaner on a Corrado VR6 with good results, I decided to use a bottle on my car.

I feel it works, and the mpg is certainly improved.

Not a huge financial outlay with no risks involved.

I suggest you try it if your injectors are few or 19 years old.

The other thing that I mentioned before that also significantly improved the mpg is to replace the lambda probe with a new one. It will pay for itself over a few tankfulls of petrol.

I used to get much worse mpg per tank compared to the figures mentioned on here, but now am closer with these two items.

Still bad compared to new cars, (but no monthly loan repayments) but better than before and now with cheaper petrol, it's a bit less of a financial punchbag using it as a daily.

    Just suggestin...........

    YMMV.

Hi Mac,i found your post interesting. Has your Ragusa Green Saloon really done 60K now? About improving fuel economy have you seen this stuff http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10K-Boost-...YAAOSwYGFUtpBx

I haven't used the one you mentioned but this one on the 80 2.6 Avant and the difference was big. A lot more oomph,i din't check fuel economy but as it was running more efficiently so must translate it would have been better on fuel. Only problem i found is you have to remove the maf hose and squirt it direct into the throttle body which suited the 2.6 but not the 2.8 cabby i tried it on. Just a thought for you.

            That would definitely help!

If I could lighten my right foot I think that would do wonders, dread to think the mpg I've been getting recently. But that's what 370 hp is for I suppose.

Ir get it converted to LPG and don't worry about fuel economy

But on serious note, I used to use Forza fuel syste/oil system cleaner every service. It's not that expensive and won't hurt your engine that's for sure.

Clearly you lot not tried this, it's far better than Redex.
