im getting a new wishbone (on one side) ... is it worth forking out an extra £50 for powerflex bushes? cause if i do it means new bolts and plates etc for the other wishbone... to dismantle it to fit these bushes too....
How would u fit them? ... a friend says youll need a garage to press them in
yeah defnetly, i wouldnt wanna feel what the handling is like on just doing one side with powerflex bushes. bit like changing a on one side and not the other!
Dont need a garage to press in, but it is hard work without. if you get old ones out and then take wishbones to garage should be able to press them in for you in a few mins tho :-)
The problem is getting the old ones out. I've just fitted powerflex all around on my S2 coupe and I could press them by hand. No probs at all. Haven't tried my car with them on yet though, so can't say anything about the handling.
Rich, yes very hight tech. Right side is lubricated by a minor engine oil leak at the filter carrier and coolant from the turbo hose and of couse engine oil from the cam cover eventhough the gasket is newish.
Can anyone of you say you have a zero leak model s2? I doubt
There has been loads of debate for years whether powerflex bushes are any good or whether they are too noisy etc etc. I know people who have fitted powerflex and then gone back to standard audi bushes becuase they squeak too much. With new standard bushes in both of your A arms you will be fine, if you want a a real improvement in feel then bin the subframe bushes and go with the dialynx alloy ones, absolutely transforms the car, but do both front and rear, no increase in noise/vibration but just a lovely feel from the car.
Alloy ones? That sounds good to me. I'm thinking about doing the wishbone bushes on mine. This sounds like another option to consider. I'm not sure about using Dialynx though. I'm sure someone can knock them up in their shed!
Im using the black powerflex bushes, they did squeak for the first few weeks then they stopped. That was last summer, been fine ever since.
I think alloy bushes may be a bit to harsh for everyday driving, especially if you have the alloy subframe mounts too.

They would def be too much and could break the mounts on the chassis. Afterall the vibrations have to be absorbed somewhere.
Also it depends which version of the bushes you have. I had to get powerflex to redesign them 3 times.
