    Security bolts

Hearing about Sla having his headlights stolen the other day which aren’t cheap to replace, made me think about some of the other stuff that we have bolted to our motors that might go walkies given half the chance.

I got to thinking about my RS2 bumper and grills, which were expensive to buy and paint, and would be just as expensive to replace, and although it may not seem like a likely part to get stolen……you never know.

Admittedly I have had a bit of practice what with all the work I have been doing lately……………but I can get my bumper off of the car in five minutes, and if I was nicking it I reckon I could cut that time down in half, given the tools at hand.

So I just bought some of these security bolts and installed them, they are usually used on bikes to protect their stainless exhausts from being stolen. They are M8 and need a thick washer or two under the head as the thread doesn’t go all the way up to the head. They each come with their own special socket and the ones I got are different patterns with each having it own special socket.

I am not saying that they have made the bumper totally theft proof, but they will make it a lot harder. They are not cheap at £12.72 each, but that is a small amount to pay considering the cost of replacing a stolen bumper.

Top idea though Mark. Although it could be another excuse to attach more shiney thing to your car.
I'm not sure there's anything valuable looking on my car. But if I do get anything, I'll bear this in mind.
                  Nicely edited BTW.

Another fine idea from Mr H...

The front bumper on my S2 was stolen from outsdie its previous owners house. Obviously stolen to order... and an RS2 bumper complete with lights, scoops and grills would be an more desireable target.
