    Rerurbing AB 92 wheels

Hi folks .. just bought a cracking (I hope!!) '92 AB S2. However the wheels are needing completely refurbished.. laquer is lifting on all of them. Anyone know of anyone local to me (Fife/Edinburgh) who can provide this service? There are plenty powder coaters, but none who can offer the high polish on this type of wheel that I know of.

    Cheers

Had the same probs with 2 pc spli-rim OZ wheels , if it's just the lacquer it's worse than it looks , get yourself some brasso/duraglit and clean where the lacquer has lifted should come up clean & shiney, to remove the rest of the lacquer use wet/dry paper.

You can obviously relacquer the wheels when your'e done, but I've found sealing with a metal polish (autoglym, peek, megauirs etc) will keep the shine for a few months.

When I was looking for somebody to do the same as you're looking for , you'll have to use somebody like pristine alloy wheels or fat rims all over the border of course.

He wont need too, the standard S2 alloys are one piece, which can be done by any refurber, Split alloys can only be done by specialist. There's a place in scotland that does them. See if i can dig out the link

Ok at the risk of a flaming due to my obvious newbie status.. here goes. Just bought 3B S2. Wheels need refurbed or replaced. Found someone who will refurb locally thanks to Jamo.. cheers for that. Saw a set of S3 17" though for sale locally. Can these be a direct replacement for standard 16"s? both 5 stud 100 PCD.. I know I'm showing my ignorance here, but perhaps some kind soul will take pity .. :-|

I'm assuming 100 PCD on the S3 wheels.. perhaps they are 112 PCD also. They will fit TT, and I have noticed a few pics of S2's on here with TT wheels. Must be common PCD surely??

TTand s3's and mk4 golf's have the same pcd of 5x100, the s2 is 5x112 pcd shared with ur s4/s6, a4/6/8, s4/6/8, main problem is the et (offset) when using s4 rims which i assume are the ones youre thinking of.

Nope TT is 5x100 S2 is 5x112, the wheels that you are reffering to are called RS4 alloys there are many replica firms that sell these as double drilled so it will fit either 5x112 or 5x100

Yep but as mentioned, beware of the offset, 35 is good but you can go as wide as about ET30 which mine are though u may get the odd rub on really big bumps

Check out ebay and you can probably pickup a set of RS4 replicas for reasonable money or the Rs6 replicas look the nuts too Beware of packages with tyres, some of them are pants, if you can upgrade to a decent set of rubber probably worthwhile. I think i paid about £800 inc vat & delivery for a set of 18's with toyo's about 8 months ago - shoould get change out of about £650 now
