ever since i bought my S2 it has been leaking a little coolant, from what i thought was the headgasket
and was getting a little worried at the prospect of the engine to be taken apart for a new headgasket.
The oil was clear of water, and the coolant level was dropping very very slowly, so i was not too worried, but of course if was a problem.
Then the little stupid bleeder screw on the heater hose broke off and started leaking.
A drill and a self tapping srew solved this leak, and now after 3 days with long commutes, the engine is DRY, no leaks what so ever, and pressure is definitly higher in the expansion tank, never seemed to get any pressure like normal when the coolant heats up.
So apperently this little fooking bleeder screw has been leaking a small amount all the time, and as it ran down the heaterhose, it would land on the engine and run down to where i thought the head gasket is leaking.
So ive apperently saved my self for an expensive repair job, and as a bonus my intermidiate coolant temp. gauge is now working correctly all the time.
Before it would stay at zero for long periods, even when the rad fan kicked on, and then suddenly come up to normal 90 for a long time, then drop back again. But now its a steady 88c when driving and 93-94 before the rad fan kicks in
I thought i had to buy a new temp. transmitter, but it seems perfect now.
Could this somehow be related to the pressure increase in the whole system
Anyway, just damn happy that my headgasket is in good condition, and just needed to share, as my girlfriend somehow fails to see the big perspective in this little issue
