  • Rs2 For Sale How Much ?

Hi, I am thinking about selling my RS2.

It is a 94 M, Nogaro Blue with Black leather and Blue Alcantara
Unmolested 315BHP excellent condition 115000 miles
    Full Audi and QST History
Recent New Clutch, Slave cylinder, Master cylinder, Brakes, Discs, Tyres and various other expensive bits and bobs.

How much should i be asking the market seems to vary so much.

    Cheers RS2OWL

    Hi there,

firstly, why do you want to sell?? Have you got an RS4 on the way or summat??!

Anyway, i'd say it will sell at around the 12-13.5 grand mark, depending on how good a condition it is in and how desperate a buyer is. As you say, the prices are very variable - especially since the price of an 11 year old car is very subjective - it really depends on how much its worth to the prospective buyer.

RSBlue with blue alcantara seat inserts (like yours by the sounds of things) can usually command a slight price premium i think, because they are what was tested by TopGear and Performance Car magazines etc back in '94.... and of course RSblue was made for the car!

Also, i think unmolested is worth more, but that really is just my opinion. to others, one that has already been "sorted" by MRC etc would be infinitely preferable!

To put it in perspective, MCP motorsports (a specialist importer in case you haven't heard of them) have a LHD car that sounds almost identical to yours (except i assume yours is RHD??). They have been advertising it for several months at 12grand. That car, privately, is worth 9grand on the current market in my opinion, and no more than 10.5 from MCP because i don't think they offer a guarantee (but i could be wrong about that). I think RHD cars have a 3-4 grand mark-up on LHD, hence i reckon yours is worth 12-13.5.

That said, a polar silver RHD one with 125K miles (and needing some work doing apparently) sold a month ago on eBay for 10grand (in two days). It was bought by a dealer who put it back on the market a few days later for 14 grand.... and it disappeared from autotrader in 10 days so i guess he managed to sell it!

If you really are thinking of selling it, do you know that www.pistonheads.com and www.RS246.com are good places to start?

    good luck!

Yes, more important question is why are you selling. Well i guess thats a personal issue, but i guess Tim is on the money when he says about £13k, but this is not the best time to sell a car, ie just before Christmas.
I would also agree that an unmolested example would be preferable in my opinion.
Good luck with the sale but i hope you change your mind.

By the way welcome to the forum.

Ho ho! just checked autotrader and that 125K silver one i mentioned in the earlier post is back up again - so it wasn't sold at 14grand after all.

Well its just time for a change i've had this car for three years and love it but seeing Top Gear the other day has made me want an RS4 Avant (new one). So it must go and i will get a suitable second car for my wife and will order the RS4 for me. Hoorah

Well i've got an V8 Vantage due in March but to be honest i've gone off the idea and wasn't too impressed with the Top Gear reception. A lot of money compared with the RS4 and not as fast or practical ( what was i thinking).

Have you ever owned an Aston before? My best mate delivers them for a living (as well as being a ski resort manager over the winter - nice life!) and they are even LESS reliable than the press reports would have you believe. Or at least, everything BEFORE the AMV8 vantage has been, so i see no reason for that to change. I certainly don't think it'd make a sensible "only car" choice, unlike a Porsche, say. Or an RS4 . I guess you have somethign else too?

I should hasten to add, I love Astons - there is NOTHING like the sound of the 6litre V12 in the DB9 howling as you go through a tunnel (with the windows open, obviously!). And, by all accounts, the V8 in the vantage is great sounding too. And, for me, that car is the best looking car ever.

I do agree, though, the RS4 looks like the dream ticket.... but i do also think that the two cars fill quite different niches. An aston is never about practicality or absolute speed - indeed that is my one concern with the AMV8 vanatge that it might be a bit too "sporty". Astons are supposed to effortless muscle cars for gentlemen to sweep beautiful ladies off in in luxurious comfort, not for flogging round the nurburgring in under 8 minutes! Incidentally, i think both the RS4 and the AMV8 recorded VERY similar times at the Nordschliefe.....

                    Decisions decisions

No i've never owned an Aston before so this is a dream realised (hopefully).
Your very true in your summation of the cars and their roles in a gentlemans life and to be honest they would compliment each other splendidly so i beleive i must spend a great deal of money and acheive car bliss.

Hopefully my wife will see it my way (Ha)

Well i better go and earn some more money.

                    till the next visit

I didn't dare suggest it, but since you have - GO FOR IT!!!! Wow, what a combo that'd be! Maybe you could buy the RS4 "for your wife" all you'd need to do is keep the RS2 as well and you have my top three cars all in one garage! What a dream!

                      best of luck,
