Even a standard WRX is very fast to 60, so at the traffic light grand prix, they might just do enough to get in front, and once infront, they can make it very difficult to get past.
I'm not saying they are a better car - far from it - but I'd be wary of trying it on with one, unless I was well and truely modded.
Had my *** soundly wopped my a seriously modded scooby on the way back from MRC in the RS. Bit gutting since i had just handed over nigh on four figures to the boys in Banbury ... but then perhaps I should have taken Doug and Minhea's advice and spent the extra few hundred on a remap
Also came across an focus st last night, that was pretty handy.
I looked at scoobies before buying my S2.
If you like cheap interiors, can live with the image, and are under six foot tall, then they're not too bad.
The S2 is miles ahead in the quality stakes though.

I have RS2 and used to own Scooby before
I have to say that handling both car OEM the scooby is 100 time better on B roads the RS2 is more a Autobahn cruiser.
Handling Problem with RS2/S2 no mods is the super cheap 4 wheel drive system and the weight. no rear lsd, no front lsd no disangage back wheel drive system when pull the handbrake and no handbrake too.
Don't race a scooby on B road unless you did a lot of mod on suspension and driveline

mmm ... scoobies .... i was going to get one before s2... but the insurance jump is massive... for some reason s2 goes cheaper for this instance... oh image too thats why i wanted scooby .. its in your face and a rally car ... s2 was never a rally car like the ur...
s2 looks nice but u have to spend money on it to allow it to be in your face sort of a car..
@maRS2
oh and that driveline and suspension setup sounds like the scooby wins .. how much will i have to do to be better? ... cause i bought my car for performance not to cruise up a bloody motorway!!!! ... i like to drive!!!!!
perhaps we should organise a go-karting event for the forum?... im pretty confident... wanna race anyone?
I think your putting the s2 in a comparison that maybe it should not be in. I think its real competition is the M3. Good day to day car aswell as very quick. Scoobies are rally cars. If audi wanted to put a rally car on the road im damn sure they could make as good if not better than the evo or the scooby. But audi focuses on comfort performance and day to day driving. Look at the sport quattro from 20 years ago i bet the scoobies would struggle to beat that now
3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips (just need the RS2 Airbox)
its original competition was the M3 and the Porsche 968 when it was test driven by topgear back in the early 1990's...
The same comments still apply, its no UR, its a bit lardy and a bit vague and unimvolving in the steering dept unlike the UR - BUT, its well built, has a fantastic engine with a shed load of torque and will leave the porsche and the M3 for dead in the wet.
I think these days the BHP on a stock S2 is nothing special compared to what is being launched - saw a clio 197bhp on the cards so its not a BHP thing and suspension/steering and brakes/diffs have come on massively in the last few years due to electronic aids etc etc
Its testament to the build quality of the S2 and the I5 20v motor that most of these cars go as well as they do after 12+ years and probably 100K+ miles - not much jap Sh*te will i can assure you. My mates old Sunny GTIR was looking shagged at 60K miles and half the interior was falling apart and it was as tinny as anything.
IMO (I stand to be corrected) the Torque of a chipped S2 at 4krpm in forth is incredible. I never cease to wipe the smile off my face as it punches will into three figures. EVERYONE that comes in my S2 with me always remarks at how smooth the power delivery is. Even the Police trainer that was in my car when I had advanced driving tuition remarked that the power delivery was similar to a World rally car that he had been given a ride in.
Regardless of whether it is actually faster than a scooby, the power delivery, looks, ambiance, build quality and refinement of these cars will outshine a scooby everyday of the week.
Cheers,
Steve.
