Mate that's not essential maintenance but the wife thinks it is
You might leave the S2 fold every so often - but you'll always come back!

Which compared to over £100 at the dealer that is good value

Had my rs2 year and a half. Spent £££££££££££££'s on it. 13 years old, it's to be expected.
Latest thing to go, tailgate struts. One of the less obvious failures, but just an age thing. A car with low miles should still have a lot of life in engine and gearbox, ie strong well engineered components. But something like radiator more frail, is going to pack up, as sure as night follows day. And on and on it goes.
I was going to list parts replaced since buying car, but that would mean looking at receipts, and money spent, me thinks not.

Would I sell it? No way
