    what size exhaust pipes

hi all im having a exhaust made, i was gonna use 3inch pipin all the way down but the silencer boxes are very limited, so it might sound a bit loudish like a dodgy nova , so im gonna use 2.5" this pipe all the way down will still handle approx 350bhp, i can make it as loud as i want or quiet using the sizes of silencer boxes, but i dont know wht size end pipes to use was thinkin of 2, 3inch but afraid it might be 2 big any ideas lads, also removing the cats too. In removing the cats is the power gain noticable

My Avant has is 3" from the turbo back (no cats) with 2x3" tailpipes. It can be a bit loud and boomy when it's cold (98dB @ idle from a metre away!!) but it quietens down when it's warm and doesn't sound at all boyracer-ish when on the move. The turbo helps to smooth out exhaust flow though so you don't get that nasty rasping noise you get from novas/corsas etc.

2 x 3" tailpipes fit perfectly with the recess back bumper so no problems there and removing the cats will make a power gain BUT if your turbo is getting tired you could notice smoke out the back as the back pressure is reduced.

My exhaust is a Miltek RS2 system which we tweaked to mate it up to the 3" downpipe and cat delete pipe.

I have only got pics of the downpipe and exhaust from when it was fitted showing the way it was put together and the car is at garage at the moment so it will be a while before I can take some of the tailpipes.

I've got a custom made 3inch turbo-back system with 2 silencers and it isn't loud or boomy.... Only at WOT when the turbo fully boosts will it be a little loud...
            Best of both worlds IMHO.

            Also at 900 Euros, it's a steal !

If your car is running only a remap or standard there will be no differnce in preformance.

I think the 2.5inch will be ok up to high power ie, 360 or more but the more flow the better from what i have read for high power.

I will be going 3inch with a tap in there for a wide band egt gauge

yes mr bullwon ive heard that to the guys who makes them is a good friend of mine, also tells me up to 360 2.5" will be ok ,being truthfull i dont think il take it over that, but if i did il build another system out of 3" as its well cheap for me :mischeif: .
Cheers ben if u got pics of it bein done that will be great if u could post them cheers matey
