Some blocks aren't stamped.

VAG engines/engine blocks come without numbers. They are meant to be stamped on by the dealer when it's supplied. Not many get done as it's more work

The latest engines use a laser etched number which is supposed to be copied onto the new engine. What dealer has the kit to do that?

I've got a customer at the minute who wants a bulkhead panel. The one with the chassis number stamped on it. They come without numbers too. The only criteria are that I have to keep a record of the logbook and some personal ID for 5 years.

IMHO that makes it far to easy to ring a car. Especially when you can buy VIN plates for £25 no questions asked. Or is it just that I have too many contacts on the wrong side of the law?

It's a 7A with coil packs and a turbo......

But that's a good thing. That's what the Stromung on the S4 sounds like.
