  • Sydney RS2 (00674)

I've already had a warm welcome from members on the Facebook page, but thought I would create a thread so I can contribute something to documenting the history of this car.

My RS2 is originally a UK car, rego plate M989 MGM and chassis 00674. It was imported into Australia in 2012, when its owner emigrated from Somerset to Sydney. The UK owner was clearly passionate about his RS2, because the car comes with an extraordinary amount of information . . . six folders! In addition to the usual service history, it came with copies of virtually every magazine article ever published about the RS2, the original RS2 brochures, and even a video of the car being used for a review by Penny Mallory on the Discovery Classic Car program.

In Australia, it was profiled by Motoring Magazine just after the owner immigrated here. See this link: http://www.motoring.com.au/reviews/2...ncestors-31351

While the RS2 is in reasonably good condition (especially the interior), it has been somewhat neglected mechanically in recent years (engine mounts, etc) and I can see a bit of UK corrosion that needs attention (for example, the fuel tank shield is badly rusted). So the car will spend the first week or two under my ownership at European Autotech, an Audi specialist just outside Sydney.

Welcome to the forum. There is stacks of information here and you’ll find almost all questions on FB have already been answered here at some point. Have fun with the restoration

Found what appears to be a great option for replacing the rusty fuel tank straps which are NLA from Audi. This bloke in Germany is manufacturing replacement sets and—hooray—they're made of stainless steel.

The RS2 has gone in for a full body respray I am having the screens removed I hope they dont break any, the car will be gone for 8 weeks, sent the injectors off for cleaning, replaced the coil pack and harness (thanks to error404) the headlining and drivers seat are back from the upholsterers and still I have a **** load of bits to source and replace wish me luck
