Blinkin heck matey you travelled a fair old distance to collect that didnt you. Shetland to Hampshire must be 100 odd miles Was all done up to a very high standard apparently

yeh i got a flight down and drove up! 571 miles to the house! it has been repaired to a high standard, there is bits here and there but its to be expected.

a few questions:
1. when slowly pulling away from cold (only happend twice) the mpg counter is very low and it feels a bit hesitant until warm?

2. when flooring the warp speed pedal and changeing gear at 5-6k rpm it feels like its vibrating near the engine? could it be a engine mount?

When cold the standard fuel map is very rich and it needs to warm to avoid slight hestiation. Yes the mpg will read low. Best seen on a cold morning sitting in traffic with a cold engine.
I have no idea how well serviced the car has been but suggest for starters considering new lambda & Diverter valve (S3 rather than OEM) if you have no record of replacement.

Vibration. If its changing gear under load then one other possible cause is propshaft bearing wear/failure. I got a metallic noise/vibration under load when lifting off &/or changing gear.
Try with a warm engine in neutral revving and lifting off suddenly to see if you can replicate.
Engine mount should affect lower gears also under load.

Also consider the downpipe heat shield, undertray not secured, shot front bushes, shot front dampers, shot front ball joints, shot gearbox mounts

Sorry but vibration at the front is not simple. Get it looked at.

Aye. High 5 to that. Nice buy mate. Can't imagine you get much of a run up on Shetland though. You'd barely be into 3rd gear by the time you shoot off the end eh? hehe

i know only too well how annoyin it is tryin to find funny noises, water leaks, ect ect
i thot it might be a thing thats happend before? hard accelaration and changeing gear there is a puff of black/blue smoke on some occations?
oh and it seems to pull to the left when crusein at any speed?
no brian the s4 aint sold yet. do u know anybody whos intrested? give me a shout if u do know anybody?

Blue black oil ? turbo seals

If it pulls get the front suspension looked at and alignment checked.

Mine came with shot topmounts shot front dampers propshaft bearing failure wrong size tyres 245/40 rather than 225/45
Over the last 3 years I have also had new front wishbones, topmounts again (these cars eat them) new ARB bushes front balljoints wheel bearings rebuilt rear handbrake..........

But if you have a 'damage repaired car' then first call alignment using someone who can do it !!!!!!!

You'll just have to bring it a spin down to Glasgow now and again to clear the cobwebs out. Not many cars will make an S2 owner feel impotent/jealous but an RS2 would do it every time.

love the rs very nice best colour too, the rear lights are horrible but thats a minor detail spot on
