Build dates for S2 Avants

What are the earliest build dates for RHD and LHD S2 Avants?

I know (think) RS2s were not built until after August 1993 for the 1994 model year but I am unclear when the first S2 avants were built, August 1991 or 1992???

Is there a source of info (I have seen the MOT or whatever it was spreadsheet of locations of S2s but there is no build-date info).

This is a tricky question - the family album gives useful info on which chassis numbers were built each month, but because none of the S2 family have a unique VIN identifier (unlike the RS2) then its impossible to know when S2 production officially started.

You can't go by engine number either as those engines could of been sitting for months before finding an avant body for its home.

AFAIK - it would be summer 1992 before any S2 Avant production started - ie the MY93 model year so starting with the 'N' in the VIN. I don't think there are any S2 Avants on a 'M'.

The earliest S2 avants had the orange indicators, non ellipsoid lights and 5-spoke alloys - these are the MY93 models. All with the ABY engine and 6 speed box of course. The earliest ABY Coupes in MY93 also had these characteristics.

HTH... I really want to get the VIN based manufacturing data built into my VIN decoder for S2s at some point. If you have the family album you can find this info in the V-pages area

Paul: Thanks. I have access to KATE's family album (lovely photos, she's such a dear) but I do not know where the "V-pages area" is located.

First build date that I found for an ABY S2 avant was 07/93.
