My v8 twin turbo coupe quattro

Finally got this one on the road after two long years and thought I'd post about it here on s2forum.

The car has been performing great thus far, about 8 pounds of boost (wastegate pressure only) at the moment, good enough for a 13.9 @ 102 with lazy shifts and an ameteur drag racer behind the wheel Not fast compared to some of the nutty numbers posted here, but not bad for a 'green' car that just left the garage a week before the event!

I've had a ton of fun with the build on this project. I'm really looking forward to how the car will perform at full song, which I expect to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 25psi.

The car is an absolute blast to drive. I've been driving 5 cylinder cars for so long I guess I really never knew the meaning of torque. shifting has become optional

Rather than re-hash all the details on it I'll just link over to my project thread on motorgeek: http://www.motorgeek.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5573

I've been following the build thread on Motorgeek, so it's really cool to see you posting the incredible results of your hard work up here on S2forum.

          Welcome to S2forum!

          What an amazing car!

Maybe you could help our own WabtheKing who is doing a V8 conversion into his CQ and has a project thread. I'm sure he'll be interested in your project.

Haven't seen much of him lately though

Why block the IC flow with number plate?
Are you running std C/R? Rather bloody high for turbo application or is it some US special version with lower comp?

NH requires a front plate and I didn't want to mess up the front bumper. I should have pulled it off for the 1/4 mile run but forgot to. I think I'm going to install a Euro plate bracket on the front and then hang the us plate in front of it. I just dont like the look of a plain US plate in a euro plate recess.

Compression is lowered to ~9.3:1 according to my calculations via stacked head gaskets (not ideal, but it works great thus far). My ultimate plan if I discover I blow the gaskets out will be to start with a 4.2 and re-nikasil the cylinders, install forged pistons to get the compression I want with moly coated skirts and forged rods. All that is 'only if I need to'. I took a similar approach with my 'ghetto' 20vt that I built using an NG bottom end and a 7a head, if it works, dont fix it.

                      full details here:

Well, in the interests of getting this project off the ground sooner rather than later I'm going to opt to go the stock NG bottom end route. I did the CR calculation just to prove to myself that it would work (if anybody thinks some of my constants are incorrect such as 10v or 20v combustion...

Ok cool thanks, btw i'd have thought going up to 4,2litres would give you a bit of an increase in power/torque?

hmm, I noticed everybody is using much smaller signatures, let me know if I should trim it.

yes absolutely. it would also increase the cost I actually had an ABZ code motor but traded it to Javad for a ton of parts and put in a 3.6L PT code motor instead, which is a $500 all day long item. If anything ever goes wrong with this motor it is no extra work to install an ABH 4.2L motor, same mounts and external engine dimensions.
