Nice. Although it looks like you have quite a narrow power-band, but I'm guessing that thing pulls pretty well off boost anyway.
How did boost levels compare on the dyno to on the road? How does it feel to drive now?

the car builds boost faster on the street. A lot of that is a function of how the dyno loads the car vs the street. Its fun to drive, but at this level of power there is a sporradic dip in power at the torque peak from 4200 to 5k (not knock and not timing related). Based on the data I've acquired from the dyno and the response from the car I'm suspecting the coils are breaking up due to the boost/heat. I am unable to send any more dwell as the coils simply aren't up to the task. My next step is probably going to be stiffer wastegates and remote mounted high output coils.Comment

Marc: D@mn coil packs. You and they just don't seem to get along.
Did you ever find the source of the HO coils? I found a website that has the same coils as 034 but they are used on LT1-type Chevy V8s. But they are still a distributor, not a manufacturer. I want to find the manufacturer.
(As luck would have it, I just (a few seconds ago) was reading your old post on AW just after you installed the HO coils on your S6 Avant).
Still great stuff with the V8tt CQ. Keep it up. Watch out for the paper cuts.RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan

Fantastic job!
very well done congrats!

P.S.
For a metric friend of yours can you tell me teh "bar" boost pressure?

lol, I'll give you a hint, I'm not going to use 1.8t coils
In thinking about it I may have an 'easy' fix (I love it when that happens). Right now I'm running in wasted spark mode which effectively makes the coils work twice as hard (6k rpm means the coils are working as hard as a single spark setup at 12k rpm) so I'm going to try installing a working passenger side distributor and hooking that up to my cam reference input enabling full sequential ignition and see what happens..
Nope, no idea really. 034 doesn't charge too bad a price for them so I'm happy to keep buying them from them anyway. I prefer the non-transistor style, which you *could* use on a stock AAN setup if you retained the factory POS setup.Did you ever find the source of the HO coils? I dont follow the paper cut joke?(As luck would have it, I just (a few seconds ago) was reading your old post on AW just after you installed the HO coils on your S6 Avant).

clutch right now is a spec stage 3+ with a fidanza aluminum flywheel. I *do* get clutch slip however so when I install the 01E 6 speed thats sitting on my garage floor I'll be installing a OE steel PT flywheel (very rare here in the states but I managed to find one) and possibly a southbend clutch (not sure on that yet, still weighing my options).Comment

didnt know fidanza did a pt flywheel??clutch right now is a spec stage 3+ with a fidanza aluminum flywheel. will have to have a look again,
last time i ordered one i got sent an s4 one which had an 8bolt hole pattern which was useless
my other alternative is a 7.25" tilton clutch which i have but i would need to manufacture a custom flywheel for that, and i dont know whether the standard release bearing would still work propperly with that either, tilton realse bearing are availble but that adds another £150 to the job and the pennies are tight!!!
i have to get my loom moddified to suit a manual gearbox as the orginal gets the crank position from the auto gear box part of the loom

The v8 fidanza flywheel was a custom run organized by 034 motorsports. They have them in stock.
Mine will be for sale shortly if you're interested as well (once I install the OE PT flywheel with the 6 speed)Comment

Paper cut joke: People who push the "envelope" need to watch out for paper cuts.
Hap McG. must have gone through a couple of boxes of band-aids along the way pushing his UrS4 envelope. I don't know how many you might have needed on this V8tt project.
Well done.RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan

Makes me want to get myself a CQ and drop a V8 in it.
Don't tempt me Rob. It's probably a good job I don't have room for such a project. ATM anyway.
