    buying s6

I know this a s2 site but i would like peoples advise on a s6 as im looking to buy one. The car is a 1997 s6 estate (the last of the 5s AAN engine) nogaro blue with leather and blue alcantara. 107k with history, electric heated seats, climate that works, 4 new tyres, tax and mot 10 months, 4WA done a year ago. The paint work isnt brilliant but i recon with a bit work it will come up ok. How much do you think its worth? its a private sale.

Not of the car im afraid. Its got a few scratches on the bonnet which i recon will still be visable after polishing. At the moment i just want a late s6 and get it looking good, not perfect. My s2 will always come first. The s6 is going to be used for taking more than 2 people( im fed up with friends breaking my rs2 seats when they get in the back)

They are a very nice understated car... Should go for stupidly cheap money - especially with the paint / body blemishes. With som TLC it could be just delicious.

mechanically its pretty similar to S2 in the grand scheme of things so will give starship miles if you want it to... Or embarrass much more modern machinery in the driving department if you wish. More comfortable and luxurious than the S2 - its a good deal bigger and heavier of course.

I'd swap the family A6 Allroad wagon for an S6 Avant if I could afford the fuel bills - but then again - think of the cash left over from that trade - hehehe. No lets not go there.

I have an s6 avant ,had it for 6 years, and its a great car. I don't know of any car that gives better value for the money,I also have an S2 coupe and I can tell you, the differance is'nt that much, yes the s2 is faster, but the s6 fells so much more thrusting the engine fells more powerful. As you say its the last of the i5 20v to be produced unfortunatly. What ever you pay for it you won't be diss apointed

Looks like i might be letting a friend drive the s6 up to the track day while i drive my s2 so £3000 doesnt sound to high. Not forgetting it is one of the last so has everything on it. Another picture of a small bit of rust on it

Agreed! If you waited long enough you'd get a really nice one for £3k but the Nogaro blue is sought after especially with the alcantara interior (although I personally don't like the colour on the s6). I'd be tempted to go to £3k with that spec and mileage, but only if you really want it! £2500 would be about right!

Yeah, i dont think i would go much more than £2500 on that one..Ouch...that damage looks a bit nasty! I had a Noggy blue one a while back and was dissapointed with what the paint specialist told me after i had a small fender bender. In my case, it was only a car parking scratch and it still cost £800 to get it fixed due to the colour being difficult to match. Apparently it is like the dreaded flat reds, the pigments discolour and new spray jobs never look quite right. Indeed, mine wasn't perfect!

What is the service history like....it is crucial that it has full audi service history, esp for important things like cam belt....Good luck
