Fat Audi 80's New Dag Dag!

Well gents, I have finally bought another Audi and its a 1993 1.9 TDI 90 Bhp that has covered 129,000 miles. It is not mint, but not bad either, and I am sure it will end up being a mini project for me as usual.

I bought it off ebay unseen and although I probably paid a little too much for it, it is going to start saving me a lot of money in petrol from day one, so I am happy.

Anyway, enough of the waffle. Today it had its first proper bath for years and a good scrub inside!

Stand by to all you diesel experts as I post up for advice soon....

                  Nice One

The "befores" show it as not too bad at all at all.

                  I know you've only just got it and you bought it to save money, not start spending it on upgrades, and you only just posted this thread, but you know what we're like, so while holding myself back here goes;

Try these for size, change the side repeaters to clear and the front indicators bulbs to silver. And the wheels, tell us how you change to 5 x 112 for 16 avus.

The brakes you'll want to upgrade from solid 256mm to at least 16v 280mm vented, as the 256mm will fade if you press on. Change brake fluid as an absolute minimum.

Make sure to bleed the fluid from the reservoir down to the clutch slave cylinder. (I didn't and it used to boil and overheat due to the accumulated water in the fluid which had built up over the years before I bought the 1993 2.0L 16v Avant. It gave me the impression the clutch was on the way out was the clutch was real jerky in bumper to bumper traffic, after the bleeding the line it is now perfect in any degree of heavy traffic. But the clutch must be old as my brother's new Sachs in his similar car is lovely and light in operation by comparison.

After being exposed to an S2 it's very hard not say I'll just to this and then just that etc. and before you know it, you are on a slippery expensive upgrade slope. I suppose the main thing is to ensure that everything works and works as well as it did the day it left the factory and it should be a joy to drive rather than a chore.

Draw comfort from the fact that in England you can plunder all the better bits on V6's and Cabriolet's in the breakers?

Looking great in the "after" photos.

                  Well wear!

p.s. a friend of mine is looking for an 80 TDI Avant in the 32 counties, if anyone knows of one for sale?

                  Kind regards.

                    @ Everyone.

Its staying standard, I don't drive it fast, in fact I will be mostly seen in the inside lane doing 65mph!

It doesn't matter if you drive it fast, get it looking sweet and they will be able to see you cruise by

Looks great Steve. Veggie oil going in it? Already got half a tank in mine

I deliberately found a right scruffy dog of a car, truly rank inside and out as I wanted a new all hands on deck project.

Now get that boat hull front bumper pulled off and an S2 front bumper on it, along with 80 V6/cabby/coupe headlamps like I have.
And I've got a set of 16" avus to go on "without" doing a five stud hub swap

                          Seriously though, looks nice
