Got me an urquattro -83 today

Bought myself a ur today. needs some TLC but nothing serious. have a few questions. Will a 3 spoke non airbag wheel from an S2/Audi coupé fit?? the diffs dont seem to work. when i pull the button nothing happens, an when i push it back i can hear a slight "psssh" sound. no bad sounds from gearbox/rear axel. any body got a clue?? thougt it might be something with the vaccum hoses first but when i heard the sound i thought probobly not. Greatfull for help. cheers, Kris. PS. this is what it looks like when we are putting snow tyres on to get home (live a bit north)

Yes the wheel will fit I have an s2 non airbag one on both of my mb's and diff lock not working will be a leak in the system some where. Congrats by the way a good choice of a classic if not iconic car If you want further help besides the s2 boys the only other forum for the urq is www.quattroforum/com. If you decide to join say hi

Sounds like it is working just the light might not be the noise you are hearing should be the noise of it locking/unlocking.

the steering wheel does fit as amanda has one on each of her ur quattros.

what colour is that, looks like helious blue?

whats with the 5 stud steel rims? i've never seen any of them before

Wheel fits but do your indicators self cancel Amanda?
The cancel lug needs swapping to the other side.

Wheel itself will fit, also the hub. But you will loose horn functionality. Use golfII/typ85 steering wheel hub, and bolt wheel to it.

I have tried S2 sw in my coupe (sort of ur-dash ), however there's only one true choice for the non race UR, which fits it like glove :

Thank you all. i must say i think the car was a real bargain. So the wheel fits, i know the diffs dont work cuz when i pulled the knob out and drove in circles the axels didnt lock upp.

The problem will be in the vacuum lines some where. Pressure test it you should find it. I would say without seeing it.... it should be an easy fix..

congrats as darren said a vacuum leak will be the reason the diffs aren't locking..
A pipe may have split or perished or the actuator may be faulty... the difflocks are simple, they vacuum pulls a level via the actuator which moves a ring gear across the gear on the diff and the driveshaft flange to lock the drive 50/50 to the wheels.
