I almost got a manta just like this:

..as my first car back in the early 90s

I guess if I had overlooked the terminal rust and the shocking oversteer that particular example displayed, my car loyalties may have turned out very differently!

Instead I ended up with a Santana GX5 like this but in silver:

Not the coolest car on campus, but I loved it!

Mantas are ace, R400s were the complete daddy. Chavliers not so much but I respect the effort taken to get them to that condition even if it's not my thing. In my book you're either Vauxhall or Ford and I'm a Ford boy.

In my book it makes no odds what so ever what the badge says on a car, if its a good one its a good one!

I can garantee you would of enjoyed my Chavalier, it was quicker than my homefried S2 is

This was taken at Billing '07, just before I sold it, I really do which I had kept it now, as its ALOT more fun than the Audi

And to show my non badge exclusivity, this is another of my old ones

Its been playing on my mind for the last month or so to get another one of either of them TBH, as Im not getting half as much satisfaction from the S2 as I did with those

                Why so Dest?

Why were the other two a lot more fun than the current S2 Avant?

                Just nosey/curious?

                Thanks and kind regards.

Looked like a fun day out.

Nice to see the Cavalier's are still being looked after.

The S2 is too smooth and progressive for me.
I prefer a nice big kick when it comes on boost.

Dont get me wrong, Im sure the S2 isnt that much slower than they were, but it doesnt FEEL fast.
No doubt I will get flamed due to the fact that this is a forum full of people that love them, but TBH Ive found it to be pretty dull overall, which is a VERY VERY big disapointment

I should add, I recently drove a mates Cav Turbo, which is running about 60bhp less than my Cav was, and even that FELT alot quicker and more fun than my S2

Dest, remove the WGFV and control boost mechanically, it will give you the kick then. (when i say remove leave it electrically connected to stop fault codes)

dest, before you have thoughts on selling up please will you dump that dual mass flywheel and get a free-er flowing zorst.
my s2 with 3b flywheel,rs2 g/box and 3" turbo back zorst does feel quick.
ive come to my own conclusions that the stock aby is LAZY!!

Can you PM me your address to send the bill to?
'Cause I certainly cant afford it!
On a serious note, in the next two weeks I will have £280 spare to spend on the car, if I cant get a noticable difference from it with that amount of money, it will probably be for sale.
