How many RS2 owners have the Original Purchase invoice for their car?

I have a couple of RS2's and I fancy a Low mileage Nogaro Blue RS2 one day, but I want a car that has every piece of documentation, bill, service stamp it ever had and most important to me..... the ORIGINAL PURCHASE INVOICE.

How many of you guys have this kinda history?

Both my Rs2's have this volume of history, but i was curious if this was the same across the board?

Comments please......or any offers of a car? lol PM me.

Fraser - I wouldn't care less for such a bit of paper if I knew the car was good...

I just remembered that this used to be a thing that classic car folk in the USA would hype up when they add it available with certain vehicles. I bought a brand new SVT Mustang in the states once and the salesman winced visibly when I scrumbled up the federal window sticker with the cars VIN, options, pricing and threw it in the footwell. When I asked him what was wrong, he told me that most people get them framed - such is the help with resale value in the states - fugg that I say.

Oh and its RS Blue - Nogaro appeared on the S6+ (C4) and the V6 S4 (B5) a lil later.

since you tend to become a collector of RS2s by now, make sure you bring them both on the second Leeds meet!! Nov.15th? are you coming?

On the subject,it doesnt bother me either.Even if a used car had full service history and ownership,i would end up renewing most of the parts to make it work properly and be at ease.Thats how i started with mine, but ended up with an engine rebuild.

Even if you do have a service history, how would you ever know if the car has had an overheat, now and then which gradually caused cyl.head cracks, and little after you bought it,you started loosing a bit of power, water, oil etc?If the engine hasnt been stripped, you'll never know.

Of course,if it works dont tamper with it,but since those cars are 14-15years old AND have been previously thrashed, you should be prepared for the unexpected.

I think mint is such a broad term, is it as it left the factory or is it everything works as should with no bumps and a full history etc?

the best thing would be to rebuild it yourself.that way you know each part is actually NEW !

I know where Fraser is coming from. I don't have the original sales invoice for my S2, but with only three owners over 15 years, there is tons and tons of history. The previous owner was as an@l and meticulous as me, so has all the reciepts for all the parts he bought, inlcuding oil changes etc. There are notes when it was MOT'd and SORN etc and loads of paperwork. I have an A4 folder full to the brim of all the previous owners and my paperwork.

Personally I think it is nice to be able to trace the history of a car.

But then again, I am a little SAD too!

Good luck finding your dream RS2...

                Cheers,

                Steve.

My present S2 has only had 1 owner since new. The only document missíng the actual reciept for the car... otherwise it has ALL service history, MOT papers everything. And i too acctually like it.

                        <sarcastic>

What - people buying cars on a finance package - you mean like some kind of monetary credit system - oh that is a fine concept alright... Doubtless dreamt up by some rich cant many years ago as a mechanism to create even more wealth for themselves. Lets do that for about 80 years then start lending stupid amounts of money who fundamentally have no way to repay it, then start repossesing their property and watch a global financial market collapse. 'kin great idea...

I bought my 1 owner RS2 in Feb this year and although it has full service history, the owner had run his paperwork through the business, from original bill of sale through to when I bought it. So I pulled most of it together myself. Audi HQ are very good at confirming services via this tel number 0800 699 888 (as well as warranty claims). I then contacted the dealers it had been serviced at and they kindly sent me copies of the servicing invoices. This all went well other than one dealer who had changed hands and has lost/archived their data. I think they sold the car originally too. I've created a lever arch file (sad I know) and have quickly pulled together most of the history and for the me the sticker in the front of the service book which confirms the car and spec and the original service book are really important.

As an aside, apparently Porsche dealers were selling RS2s from new - an original Porsche sales invoice would be pretty rare! Anyway back to my filing!!

The RS blue (as stated on the invoice) one I sold had the lot...

Original bill of sale, personal letter from the dealer manager confirming sale of the car, every piece of service docket - including each initial road test report followed up by the service.

each service was carried out by the same service technician.Car was bought from new and serviced at the same dealership. Even all replacement tyres from Audi...and Mots through them.

Never seen any documentational provenance like it....Still did not account for much when Fontain pulled the car to bits on an inspection from the guy who bought it. P****s

I think that is completely true... I knew one old guy in the mid nineties who had been thru a number of Porsches - you know the sort - money no object - got bored of Ferraris breaking down on him. The Porsche salesmen did a hard sell job on him for a certain RS Blue Estate car that caught his eye in the showroom one day. I was insanely jealous at the time, cos the guy didn't know one end of a car from another but couldn't resist the attraction of this teutonic machine and its claim as the worlds fastest estate car. It was just an expensive toy for him - usually bought buy 'the company' of course...
