    Another Avant convert

Well I'm officially an avant convert now...

I've bought Paul W's car to replace my S2 coupe.

For the last year I've been driving a Passat estate as an everyday car because I needed something to fit my dog into. My S2 coupe has only managed about 1500 miles since the last Mot so I decided I'd get S2 avant and sell the coupe and the Passat.

Picked the car up from Paul in Bath last Satuday and drove it back to Aberdeen.

    First impressions are good.

Thanks to Paul who was great to deal with.

As it's to be my everyday car I'm going to refrain from any modifications.

Although I do have a set of bigger alloys, 996 brake upgrade, Vagparts Hid kit and RS2 f/arb lying about in my garage doing nothing now that I've removed them from my coupe. I wonder if the would fit the avant:mischeif:

    P.S.

In the past I may have said that the coupe was superior to the avant.
I was obviously wrong. Avants rule.

1994 S2 avant - weekday toy... gone... in many pieces...

Haha your Coupe owning friends will never let you forget this, I know mine haven't

In an ideal world I would want an S2 coupe as weekend car and an Avant for every day.....

Welcome to the darkside, long may it continue!

        Nice one Fred!
Good to see the car is staying on the forum, and the quattro stickers that I fitted still there!

        I still miss it too

First thing my six year old son spotted were the stickers. "Is it a quattro?" he asked
When I said yes, it instantly got his seal of approval.

His favourite car is my weekend toy which he has told me I'm never allowed to sell.

Aha! A man after my own heart Fred, I had a similar set up.
I have a quattro for weekends, and used the S2 everyday. I only really sold the S2 to concentrate on giving the quattro a bit of tlc.

Yours looks a beaut too, which type is it?

quattro is a MB. First registed owner Audi UK on the 4th of January 1988, so one of the first MB's in the UK I think. E34 K** is the registration. I know mikes2 has E22 K** and his car is the one you see in the magazine road tests for the MB when it was introduced to the UK. I think his was registered a couple of weeks before mine. It has been suggested than mine may have been used at the UK launch of the MB engine, (Nov 1987 build date, some bespoke fittings/blaupunkt speakers) but I have no proof of this.
It's nice that it may have some interesting history but I'm just happy that it was the best example MB I could find when I was looking. It's in good health and I give it a run out as often as possible.

                  Fred,

As you say / found out Avants are the body shape that you grow into rather than with the Coupe where one can outgrow.

Not wanting to start anything, obviously all S2s are excellent, but just in case a newbie is undecided on whether to go for an Avant or a Coupe. Whichever, they should both be an ABY. Where's my coat?

Notwithstanding any of the above waffle, good luck with the Avant.

                        New wheels

Well I've managed to get my hands on some S8 alloys. So the rs4 reps are history...

Definately my favourite wheel for the avant.

Hubcentric spacers made from some "spare":mischeif: aluminum at work and then hard anodised.

18" Avus do look so right on there - its the right style only in a bigger package - kinda like a 6ft version of a Kylie

                          Bad analogy....
