5 pot Schrick cam in the RallyRep

Right, just a warm up... The Schrick fast road/ race cam is in... 276/276...

Last night I was concerned the RallyRep wouldn't make a cold start to fans cut in without driver assistance to keep it running... So tonight I started it up and let it get on with it...

    This is at cold idle...

She made it....Kept over 700rpm all the way...

It's rich though, due to cam overlap, but settles after a run, the MOT could be interesting though...

    Here's a taster, with a wee video...once warm...

You'll have no issues on MOT with it setup correctly. A car that age could put more petrol out the exhaust than went into the cylinders and it would still pass 276 shouldn't be a problem for idle really. It all makes sense above 2k rpm anyway

    Nice piece to camera

Looking and sounding good ian, when is the next show your planning to take her to?

also could you remind me what exhaust is on it, iirc its a 1 box scorpion system of a slightly bigger bore than standard?

any other mod's to the engine etc apart from the cam?

          Thanks for the comments folk...

The engine's pretty much standard, there's a few tweeks to the fueling and a bigger Aluminium quattro airbox with K&N, the exhaust is a 3" Scorpion system with single box.

Here's hoping you're right Andy, I think it might be the hydrocarbons rather than the CO that might be of issue...

          It's not until August anyway.

3" for a NA is a bit much really, it's what 2.1 / 2.2 litre? More like 2.25" for that size engine to ensure good mid range response.

You're probably right Andy, the cam actually appears to have helped, by giving more further up... The mid/bottom range is the trade off. I think for a normal road car this set-up 276/276deg + 3" is too much, but in a partially stripped out rallyrep with bucket seats it seems to all make sense. It's certainly entertaining, and when it's up on cam, it gets a move on for a NA 2.2, five pot.

Here you go, sorry about the quality of the image, it's the sound that's the key, it's a bit V10 at high rpm...

                        Lamps...

There's not a huge amount planned for the short term now, I've got a set of Vented, grooved and crossdrilled discs with greenstuff pads to fit all round... Then, in April it's off to the Isle of Man, on a Manx tour with some quattros and rally cars...

Wouldn't mind sorting out some of the suspension in time, get it's chassis a bit more controlled, uprate the ARB's probably the answer there, but all in time.

Thanks I keep kidding myself it's not a mid-life crisis... A pink 2CV would be that... But it's become slightly outrageous... Especially as you can hear it from a mile away, literally.
