    Going in backwards

... a ditch and hedge that is

Was in the process of an overtake when some c*nt in a mk iv golf decided to embark upon an overtake also. Left if a second thinking "he'll see me and pull back in"... yeah right.

Locked on, flicked back behind the guy i was overtaking, backend went light, fought it a couple of times and got the right foot down to try and get quattro pull to me out, but i was in 6th at about 35mph by this time and so no grunt

I remember making a concerted effort to miss everything and finally thinking "oh f*ck, im going down", dabbing the brakes and locking the wheel to spin the car and avoid going in to any dry stone walls head first.

Some how i avoided all oncoming traffic in the opposite 2 lanes, skidded backwards, jumping over a gravel drive opening - the only piece of non-dry stone wall for about 1/2 mile - and over some soft grass into a ditch

Needless to say i was a) in shock and b) pretty pissed off. No one stopped, not the **** that pulled out, the guy i was over taking or anyone behind me

The engine was still running smoothly and i shut it off, not knowing what potentially could be damaged, climbed out and took a breather checking i was still intact.

Eventually either an undercover or off duty pulled up and started looking at the situation, calling in the local officers also. Meanwhile i'd already called a mate to get it pulled out.

The bobbies turned up and coned off half the road whilst it was pulled out - and to their amazement with a bit of rear diff lock it pretty much pulled itself out

Long story short, jet washed it down, damaged rear bumper and treser - thats it.

But even so, im more glad that it wasnt the s2

Glad to see it was "only" the S4! I didn't even know you had it!

Brilliant news you are okay and the car is too. A well timed exit off the road if ever there was one.

                    Cheers,

                    Steve.

T'was me 'gov Im too used to the RS6 brakes and superior handling of the coupe

The rear light clusters are all good, its just the centre bit that as cracked open. Anyone have a spare?

Everything is just as good/bad as it was before. I even think it straightened the handling out
