    CQ Rally replica

This is my other quattro... Its currently a 2.5 10v GTi Engineering powered 1987 Coupe Quattro that i bought the start of the year for a daily run around. Since then i've been fixing problems the previous owners was not capable of or just generally CBA

Anyway, this coming friday I head off to Isle Of Man for a Quattro Celebration tour with Ian Simmonds from here and a few others. Spent 27hours doing vinyls for the livery (never again). Was a nightmare job and although its not impeccably neat it looks fine from 10ft which i'm fine about.

Plans for summer include AAN conversion utilising stock transmission but with uprated clutch (dont want to have to do that in future if can help it!) as well as general tidyup.
The livery is a replica of the Demuth car from the 1982 Lombard RAC, never really been done as a replica and I know Mr simmonds will agree with me when i say, it is one of the most striking and well placed liveries for the Original Quattro.

few sneak peaks Will update this thread as I go along

    Her first proper wash..

Wheels are 15" 4stud ronals that i will get refurbed.

Very true and thats something I'll definately miss but I'm pretty sure in time it'll start sounding more Group B-esque knowing my approach to it...

takes time to build perfection pete
Getting there slowly with the UR but bodywork is a slow process especially when your prepping to take panel moulds. As for the Rally Rep, a 20vT lump will finish her off nicely Not just going to bung it in though will collect all the necessary bits and bobs and tidy her up once the current lump is ready to come out.

What brakes you planning on using as 14's will be too small for a lot of things apart from to my knowledge g-60's which might work as the car is lighter.

running 15" ronals so can use the G60 calipers fine, I havent fully decided on brakes yet as i'm using stock calipers with EBC greenstuff pads and discs. Will investigate caliper upgrades but prob run 285mm discs.

                      standard brakes are fine!
I ran my car for 12 months before I uprated brakes, wish I d not bothered, they don t seem as good!
Love the graphics, where were they from?
I painted my last rally rep, looked good from 10ft too

10ft's probably better than the works cars ever were, I remember seeing LYV4X with the back window Perspex held in by a 1 inch wide bead of black mastic...Lovely!...

But at the end of the day, it was a machine being used for it's designed purpose, and repairs/build finish were secondary to functionality.

                        Looks good Jay...!

If you pop the 20vT into it and it takes you about month or less, can you do the same to mine...

Once you have all the bits it should take no longer than a week to get it in, wired up and running ian... as with anything preparation is the key.

Graphic are by a lovely lady called Donna Coupe (ironic?) whose based in Abshot, Hampshire.

If you have everything it should not take that long on a coupe, me and terrybullwon just removed the spare 3b wiring loom from my s2.
