    Weight Loss

The old girl has lost some weight...

This is the Gross weighbridge weight, split at 740 front, 490 rear, with a driver and tank full of fuel.

Most of the weight has come from the usual places, Carpet, sound insulation etc...

Took the old girl down from 1310kg with half a tank of fuel and driver to 1230 with a full tank and driver (78kg)....

    Drastic diet....

Erm.... Well, beyond the little things, like the foot brace, peddle covers, a bit more weight loss, and Hella Rallye 3000 lamp covers (if I can ever find a supplier!!!)...

There's a cage, and, oh, cash permitting, a heart transplant....

The thing was... The recent visit to the Isle of Man Rally (below is at the Bungalow)...

And one of the famous Rally Stage start locations...

Stages sort of highlighted the handling ability, and the weight issues... plus the need for more power... But ironically, it sort or eliminated the thought that power does overcome weight; it would, in reality, merely mask the handling woe's....

Without doubt, to make the 'Mountain' work, 300bhp would be about right, but it'd have to be in a 1300kg or less car... To keep it nimble... Alive... On it's toes...

having run around in the s2 minus passenger seat, rear bench, no carpet and no floor underfelt, it definately wakes it up too.....shame the chassis is straight from a jelly mould but even so does feel much better.

Nice photos BTW Be interested to find a public weighbridge to see what mines coming in at pre-diet...

I keep meaning to pop down there with the S2 too, but I'm pretty sure I'll be shocked by the result.... The Ur was 1390 with half a tank of fuel and a few bits and bobs in the boot, plus a child seat. The S2, in full daily running trim is going to be pretty shocking.
