Lol, my old roof lining came unstuck, so to practice taking out / putting in, i got one from a scrappy and decided to cover it in this material, it wont be there forever, honest (although i like it )
Picture free update.
The bottom sectin of my radiator decided to split where the rubber mount attaches to the bracket on the bottom. This proceeded to spill water everywhere everytime i drove the car!
I think this was caused by movement in the rad, as the radiator itself looked really new? Turns out it was only attached by the nut on the bottom and the L-shaped bracket at the top, dunno if this is how it should be but there was a fair old bit of play in it.
I got a rad for a good price off avants2turbo on here and put that in last night and tightened the bracket up on the slam panel. I also used a bit of classic cable tie engineering to support the rad at the back and reduce its movement as much as possible.
Whilst the undertray was off, i decided to do an oil change.
I have been seeing slightly low oil pressure readings (1.3bar ish) when hot idling running fuchs titan 5-40, so i popped in to Opie oils in redruth for a bit of advice, and came away with 6 litres of silkolene 10-50, and a fresh oil filter from mill auto supplies.
I havent driven the car since the change, but oil pressures seem to have risen when leaving it idling on my driveway
so yeah, thats that, a big thanks to avants2turbo and the lads at opie oils
Nice project!
Got a good laugh of the spring testing you did, and I must say the rooflining is very very diffrent. The p-p-p-pokerface comment made me chuckle when watching the pic.

looks like you've been having the same issue as me with the oil pressure... i thought my bottom end was about to give out on me...but looks like I will give 10-50 a go or maybe even 10-60....

nice looking avant...
cheers!
well, its gone from 1.3bar @ ~90deg to 2bar @~90deg, definitely worthwhile! Havent pushed it as yet tho. In my opinion it was worth the change.
do you find it as good as the rado.
Yes and no. I loved the G60 power delivery, and the noise! But it got to the point where i couldnt go any further with the power unless i had the block out and started boring or went 16v, all huge money plus i fancied 4wd.
The audi feels more composed, and is nicer day to day. I dont think its much quicker in current form though, and its harder work to drive it fast (keeping it on boost, whilst throwing around 1.5tonnes).
On a tarty note, there was a much better wheel choice for the raddo, i was running 9x16's no problems, and they didnt cost the mental money that nice hoops for the s2 cost!
The G60 is ALOT cheaper to run and tune, and far easier to find parts for as its mostly mk2 / passat. S2 is abit more classy with that extra expense.
I know that all sounds a bit negative, but on the face of it, i deffo prefer the s2.
I also put a standard gearknob on finally! Feels so much better than the lame *** momo thing a previous owner felt the need to put on, shifts fell a bit crisper, guess its because of the shorter length.
