my S2 does 0-60 in 5.9 seconds, it gets to 60 in second gear, its homefried only, what do you think?

Given that 5.9 is the claimed time for a standard ABY coupe I would have thought a chipped one would be able to do it quicker...
When I first got mine (stock standard) I timed a couple of
0-100km/hr runs (1st & 2nd gear only) and got something like a 5.95 and 5.8something. Although this was just done with a passenger with a stop watch watching the speedo so not all that accurate. Also when I later fitted a boost guage I found that a sticky N75 was causing boost to spike to 20-25psi so the dodgy valve may have actualy made it quicker. -
5s dead for a slightly stripped homefried coupe. Should be about 5.3-5.5s for a chipped car. The key is not really the car, although it needs to be right, it's the driver. The launch and 1st to 2nd change seem to make more difference to times than anything else. What did you measure it on? I also found that different software measures different times, a 5.0s on the Racechrono is about . 4.8s on the Performance Box software.Cheers'en, AndyC

5.0s best, 5.1s average with about 80kg removed, 5.4s average with the interior in. Was hoping to get sub 5s average. Have a few more items that I can remove, hopefully get another 50kg out (mainly water in the sound deadening
). Be really interested to see what the RS2 turbo is capable of with a stong bottom end etc.

bear in mind my girlfriend used her phone and I told her when to go and stop, I wasnt trying my hardest cos I would have floored it and dropped the clutch, it was a gentle run to 60 haha, I'll try it again tonight, I'll tell her to start when I drop th clutch and stop when she see's it hit 60, but will I really floor it or what before I drop the clutch cos I'm sure it can do better, and I'll try 0-100 aswellComment

never tried it in mine. igot a gtech but cant get accurate readings.

If you don't launch it then you're unlikely to break 6s, the speedo is about 10% out, top of 2nd is 72 indicated and is actually 66mph on the GPS. GTechs are difficult as you have to give it a good jolt to get the thing to start properly. Ideally a performance testing device needs to be GPS with an accelerometer based start mechanism.
Check out my cheap performance meter thread, you can get a 5Hz tester up and runnig for about £40 if you have a decent mobile phone, courtesy of the Racechrono software and Performance Box analysis software.Cheers'en, AndyC

Yeah, those iPhone things are quite good but you have to get them setup properly and held well in the car as I found out with a mate's iPod touch
6.38 is good, that's about the same as I got at Inters a few years ago with a stock car.

@barber - you have to get a good launch... suggest holding it around 4-5k then put all your trust in the gods of clutch and gearbox for clean takeoff... Avoid too much wheel spin and dont be tempted to rev out to 7500 for the gearchange... Try about 6000... Trial and error on a quiet flat road is best to get your technique better, but it is hard on the clutch and 1st gear.Paul Nugent
