Needing a second car and as much as id like a TDi they seem to hold their value way too good for me! So..........V6s seem to be of reasonable price either saloon coupe or avant.
What are they like to run? mpg? and service?
Hate to say it - but yeah - for cheap runabout get a 6A engined one... The V6 is thirsty. Oil leaks are common too - upper gaskets usually. On the upside the V6 is really smooth for cruising along but will never set any 0-60mph records. Very understressed and mechanically reliable as far as I can tell. The V6 is surprisingly tight enough to work on the 80 too - both cyl banks come close to the inner wing to make access pretty limited for a lot of things.
Al, I have been helping George just finish put a 80tdi avant through its MOT which is up for sale ...Nothing to write home about ..but as a daily hack /driver would do the job ..£500 PM me if interested
hi , i run a 2.0 abk coupe as a daily driver = i dont know what the mpg figures are but a full tank seems to last for ages, one thing i've noticed though, it cost more to fill up than my s2 coupe, so i asume it has a bigger tank ?
Audi S2 Coupe 1995 VW Passat GL5 (hatch) 1986 VW Passat GL 1.8 (saloon) 1986 Carrera Subway 8
yeah not the biggest tank i dont think, seems to be about 45 quid to fill my avant but the usage is menatl at mo! need to take it apart and find out if its rich, leaking or wrong! lol empty on way home, stuck in 20 quid, half tank, 20 miles late quarter tank!!!!!!
