Powder coating or painted

Whats the best finish on alloys? powder coated or painted, also anyone got any pics of both finishing. 1 last question whats the advantages and disadvantages of powder coatin and painting....... cheers nip

The standard alloys on my S2 wer powdered coated last year before i bought the car. mines are a slightly darker shade of silver. guess thats due to not having the asme range of colurs as paint. they are a good finnish, very smooth, and piss easy to clean!!

In reality you will not notice a difference in finish fact I've had both.

The main advantage is powder coating is harder wearing as paint is dependant on a lacquer finish

I've just refurbed some wheels and had to have them painted as I had some filler on the edges and the powder coating wouldn't stick to the filler.

Powder coat is very durable but be aware that if you do chip it then water can seep under the paint layer and will work it's way along until at some point the paint can come off in big sections.

I can highly reccommend someone to repaint wheels (had mine done in Avus silver) in Kidderminster. Let me know.
