I love my S2... (picture heavy)

I probably don't say it enough really. I tinker about with the other cars and come Monday morning jump into the S2 and use it for work... Several times I've thought about selling it, what with fuel prices etc.

So this weekend I've given the old girl some more love, spent about 6 hours on it today and once again, it's come up beautifully.

It's not really got too many problems either, the only niggles really are the door trims and the aircon.

Ironically, after taking these photos I popped into our Tescos to buy myself a well earned beer and as I locked it up the usual call of 'car wash for you Sir?' Comes...

I couldn't help myself... 'Better job than you lot can do Isn't it'...

Problem is the wood's rarer for a avant and something different.

lol... Funny actually, when you live with the wood you don't even see it... I see what you mean, it's almost retro in a '$hite' kind of way... But that's how it is (was) when AFN ordered it.

                  Thank you...
It's funny you say about keeping it original, I'd half heartedly thought about some upgrades a couple of years back, but then dismissed them. It was only after I posted the photos this afternoon, it dawned on me that a 1993 S2 estate is probably rarer than our WR (ur quattro), and the S2's in better condition too (the WR's pretty good for it's age to be fair, but the S2 is superb). But the S2's like a familiar old shoe, I get into it and I'm home again. Even when I'm the other end of the country. (Am I getting a bit sentimental? )

very nice Ian, yours must be one of the only stock S2 avants left?

I notice your carpet is the same as mine in the passenger footwell by the sill trim - not the right shape and the edge is visible not hidden by the trim - are they all like this I wonder??

nope but mine is now the same issue but on the drivers side instead. I think since i have removed the cruddy old underlay/sound-deadening the base of the carpet has dropped and it doesnt reach the grippers now

Sure is in good shape and given its rare then i'm sure it'll be holding its value superbly

The car had a spare wheel mounted CD autochanger from new, so I assumed it had been disturbed during fitting and couldn't be moved back. When we got the car in 2002 I did have a look at it, but concluded it was more hassle than it was worth. Interesting yours has gone the same way.

Nice looking car, I do like them standard.
I know what you mean about being a "dependable old shoe" mines now got that feeling about it.
                            Take good care of it.

I've had 3 different carpets in my coupe and all been the same, i wondered whether it was just my car that was odd or missing something - David mentioned the sound deadeneing might be the issue, but i have replaced mine with closed cell foam and vinyl backing which is just as thick as the OEM felt if not slightly thicker and still its a bit short down in that corner

                              very odd
