There's only three people I am aware of on the forum with the skills & experience to do this kind of work... In alphabetical order -

    Aelred
    JP (RWD19T)
    Repo (ProMo in Finland)

People like MRC and other respectable UK tuners must either do this kind of work themselves or contract it out - dunno which. It is pretty specialised stuff - especially if you want any gains to be objectively measured and proven on a flow bench.

Purveyor of HomeFries and Exclusive agent for Samco hose kits (S2/RS2)

There are only 10 kinds of people that understand binary - those that do, and those that don't

JP - thanks for such an informative reply

Having finally had time to read and digest that - I'm understanding a bit more now where headwork plays its part, and where it's worthwhile and possibly not so much...

I guess the question now then - does the RS2 turbo worth it?

I take it in the case of an RS2 it would feel better lower down off-turbo due to an increased VE, and boost would likely need to be reduced in order to stop the turbo trying to make the same peak at the high end and potentially over-spinning.

Being rid of the 7A cams should help due to the lack of overlap then, and a bit of work on the head might open it up to give similar top-end power without the comprimise low down, and further reinforce the increased driveability in low/mid range. Nothing too OTT and expensive as the turbo won't benefit much up top - as the engine is already capable of swallowing it's peak flow though - just for less of the rev range. That would likely be 'worth it' to me... (does this theory sound plausable?)

        Cheers,
        Ross

That is true but some member outsource to top contacts, Quattronutter via Bahnstorm has a contact who can port heads who's experience I won't go into but lets say if he was a direct member he would be on that list

            Great explanation there from JP.

I use either Nick Waples or Neil Roper for cylinder head work, both have masses of knowledge on the subject and have both done and still do a lot of work for manufacturers and race teams worldwide.
