    Ouch big bill

Took my S2 for a cambelt change + a few other jobs the other day and it looks like the bill is gonna end up being about £2000.

Once the front end was off many probs were found. Basically lots of origional parts have come to the end of thier life. Ive been neglecting her a bit recently(due to lack of cash) and now im paying the price.

Ive been to have a look and everthing that needs doing needs doing now.

At least she will be sweet when its all done. The ammount sure hurts though.

    The joys of S2 ownership.

Maybe another one up for sale soon. Cant afford any more probs.

    Jon

    Oof!

Surely that's not a typical bill though? What else needs doing?

Can you not source the parts and just get a labour only charge from your garage?? That should save you a few quid

Where I live for such amount you can crash your car twice and they will repair and repaint it so it will work and look superb.

I've paid 70% of your repair amount for my S2 when I bought it .

              I gonna move to Latvia I reckon>

Its a whole host of stuff-too much to list. When I went to see her It soon became obvious that it was gonna be expensive. Once you start adding up the prices for the parts it just starts to rocket.
Dont realy have the time to get all the parts myself as it is my everyday car and I need her back on the road asap.
Being done by a specialist and not main dealer. Guy will only use genuine Audi parts though.
I just figured it would be easiest to get everything done at once.
Soon adds up when you got a few probs.

Audi main stealer prices put the 80k service and timing belt change done together at c. £900 - without anything else they might claim to find.
                  Ck.
PS That's outside the M25. Expect it to cost more inside.

Who's the specialist your using? Is it Underwoods in Sheffield. I spent £1500 with them last Xmas on a service, fuel pipes etc etc and that's at £35 an hour...

                      I'd be having kittens!

by Xmas my car will be due a service, thankfully i've done all the niggly bits myself recently, godness knows how much that would have cost at a garage.

Dont want to hijack the thread but I've just come back from a weeks break in Latvia (Riga) and was really surprised by the massive number of Series 2 (Type89) Audi's I saw. On a trip out to Sigulda it seemed that it was every second car! But what was more surprising was the lack of Series 3 models - I hardly saw any - plenty of new A4/A8 etc in the city but no Series 3 - there seems to be a generation jump! Is there a reason for this?

Well I just paid £900 to get my S2 through its MOT plus do a couple of other little bits, so it's quite easy to spend that much without realising on the S2.

AFAIK labour rate is £65/hour at my local Audi garage - but my g/box repair still came to £1,000 for the labour AFTER they knocked a big chunk off for the break in faux pas! Along with Martyn's parts (and the service I got from Martyn was excellent by the way), it comes to about £1,850 - but it should have been well over £2,000. However, the garage is now feeling the bigger sting - as they have to buy the upgrade stereo to replace the unit fitted after the theft of my original set up.

                            Ah, well.

In fairness they are now bending over backwards to appease me - but I think that's only fair, yes?

Boez: Series 3(middle age a4 i recon?) aren't common becouse they have a very **** like sucpension. And I think you saw our roads . It won't last a few month.

Type89 are common becouse they are cheap and not expensive to repair.
