  • New Work Vehicle !

You just know this is going to turn into another project

888 2.5 TDI special in very nice condition.

Drove back from Doncaster to and it rides lovely.

    Cruise control is very nice.

Just got to try my hardest not to let my tinkering go to far, I've enough of that with the S2.

Has anybody done a cam/diesel pump belt of one of these? Needs doing ASAP.

yes its basically the same as an early a6 but more awkard due to less room, plenty of reading up to be done before you start on that job.But once you are familiar with the engines its a doddle, you will need a few special tools.

Do you need the same/similar crankshaft holding tool we use for the I5 turbo?

Well I have not found a timming belt or any other job on a car that has beat me yet.

Done mine on the drive with a mate. Get the flat cam locking tool n it is much easier. Did both mine in a day. Fairly simple I guess if u know what your doing... I don't but my mate did

yes the official one is shorter than any of the 20vt ones but same fitting,i have a couple of different home made ones so can't be sure.

One thing to think about changing is the crank pulley,if it comes apart it will rip the timing belt to shreds and damage the timing belt covers btdt,if it happens at speed it could badly damage the engine, mine went at about 1mph luckliy

Worth getting intimate with the t4 forum

don't forget a tensioner and new bolt for it,plus the 2 fuel pump pulleys( presuming the ajt is same as the rest of the 2.5s) and a spring scale is useful to set the tension on the pump belt, can get the off ebay for about £3
