Welcome,

The forum should be a good opportunity for an exchange of information / experiences.

What's the spec of the car, and in particular the engine ?

What's broken on the car since you started rallying it ?

Nice photos, and great choice of car obviously.

That is cool, do you have a build thread anywhere?

The car has a almost stock 3B engine, there is a 34 mm restrictor on the compressor housing, open exhaust with no mufflers or cats, cone air filter, the cam timing has been changed a bit, VEMS standalone, steel head gasket and a bigger oil cooler.

The gearbox is a 5 speed 01A DWR from a Audi A4 B5 1.8 turbo, the final ratio is 4.11 but it was something else in the DWR originally, 3.8 I think. Two gearboxes have failed us.

The suspension is home made with 50 mm Bilstein inserts, one big problem is that the front inserts always bend, they need to be bigger or the car has to get lighter in front

I don't remember much more, but feel free to ask.

By the way, my brother, S2Race here on the forum, is the co-driver, he also owns the OTHER Audi S2 in Iceland, there are only two! The three of us are probably the biggest 5 cyl Audi fans in Iceland

How many Audi S2's are there in the UK being used for rallying?
Mine has AAN engine, fully balanced (not lightened!), scat rods, ported and polished head, matched ported and polished intake chamber, piper cams (bespoke one off's!) all built by Impulse Developments in Rochdale, tubular exhaust manifold, aluminium front pully, aluminium flywheel, 5 paddle clutch and competition pressure plate matched to B7 RS4 gearbox (possibly the first person in UK or on the globe to fit this gearbox to an S2 back in 2008). Suspension is 2.5" adjustable coilovers with bilstien inserts, RS2 front brakes with 304mm rotors on bells (soon to be 330mm) rears soon to be 299mm with 4 pots!). Fully welded subframe with aluminium bushes and fully welded wishbones with 'hard' wishbone and anti rollbar bushes. RS2 front anti roll bar and 'front onto rear' rear ant roll bar with adjustable drop links. Hydraulic handbrale with bias valve. 4mm polycarbonate side windows with sliders and pop out vents. Interior has Cobra Evo Pro seats with 5 point TRS 3" harnesses. Full multipoint, multi diagonal weld in roll cage, usual FIA fire extinguishers. HID Morette headlight conversion and 4 PIAA HID spot lights within a removable lamp pod ffor night stages. Still on K24 turbo with 34mm restrictor.
I'm sure I've missed loads too!
Navigator required for 3rd and 4th February 2012 for North West stages based in Blackpool. Anybody interested PM me.Thanks

Welcome

Nice leap, what area of Iceland was that taken as have competed on Rally Reykjavik 3 times in the white Army Land Rovers . Anyone who loves rallying should have a go once in their lifetime as the scenery is out of this world (reckon moon landings took place there) and the stages are like nothing you've ever driven on, 3 days of pure adrenalin, most stages about 25-30km and the longest about 40-45km.
happy memories
